American national found dead in his room in Malate Manila

An American national was found dead inside his rented room at a guesthouse in Malate, Manila, over the weekend.

The deceased was identified as Johnson Christian Blake, 52, at Room 419, Wanderers GuestHouse located at 419 M. Adriatico Street corner J. Nakpil St. in Malate, Manila.
SPO2 Charles John Duran of the Crimes Against Persons Investigation Section (CAPIS) of the Manila Police District (MPD) said Blake’s decomposing body was discovered at 6:30 a.m. by the staff of the guesthouse.

Prior to this, the victim reportedly checked in at around 3:30 p.m. of Feb. 28, 2017 for a whole day stay. The victim has not been seen since when his checked-out time came, calls and knocks on the door went unanswered, so the staff initially thought the victim merely stepped out.

On the night of March 4, night shift receptionist Lyndon de Leon noticed stench coming from the hallway, near the victim’s room. He initially thought it was caused by a dead rat so a search was made and when it yielded nothing, the staff decided to ignore it.

When the stench turned worse the following day, the search was resumed until it was traced to be coming from the victim’s room. A duplicate key was used to open the room and it was then that the staff found the victim’s already decomposing body
