A local broadcast journalist was killed in an ambush on Saturday afternoon.
The Police identified the victim as Carlos Matas, who hosts Zambo News Patrol on dxCA Bell FM and dxBZ Radyo Bagting based in Pagadian City.
Police said Matas was ambushed by at least four gunmen while on board a motorcycle in Barangay Nuburan at around 3:30 p.m.
Police recovered empty bullet shells from a .45 pistol and 5.56 M16 rifle at the crime scene.
It was the second ambush on Matas this week. He survived the first attack last May 8, Tuesday.
Matas and two employees of Zamboanga del Sur's provincial government were on board a jeep when they were waylaid by unidentified gunmen.
Matas and the two employees escaped the ambush unscathed. Police said Matas' killing could be related to his work or the barangay elections.
